Description

ROLE PURPOSE: The role holder will provide consistent operational support to targeted country programmes (Niger, Mali, DRC and Nigeria) to improve operational delivery by supporting the strengthening of leadership, management capability, structure and systems (through the coordination of Operations Platform Strengthening (OPS) plans), operations advisory support and direct support. S/he will also support country offices and regional offices in the management of the OPS budgets. SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Regional Operations Director Number of direct reports: None Budget Responsibilities: None Dimensions: Multiple stakeholder engagement at Centre, Region and Country level, with interaction at SMT and SLT levels. The post holder is also expected to engage and manage relationships with members of the Save The Children movement. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Operations Platform Strengthening Plans: •Organise and conduct organisational capacity reviews in ‘group A’ countries (those considered to present the highest risk and need) in conjunction with regional and country offices •Support the development and delivery of operations strengthening support packages for targeted country programmes based on the findings of the capacity review process •Provide in-country advisory support, including designing bespoke solutions to identified gaps (e.g. support an organisational structure review; facilitate a strategic planning exercise; streamlining core processes; etc…) •Provide strategic direction to country management teams and supporting key planning processes especially during restructure and rightsizing processes. •Provide change management support to country programmes during internal change processes •Support the implementation as of global priority projects in Group A countries •Working with country management teams to determine how best to improve the overall quality of leadership in order to improve operational delivery, through guided discussions and action planning Workshop Facilitation, Training and Capacity Building: •Work with the country programme team to identify core learning needs and together develop a programme of training to fulfil these needs as part of the operations strengthening plans developed with the regional offices •Work with the Regional Office and country operations director and others to identify required content for operations training •Coordinate with colleagues to identify resources, potential trainers and coaches to provide bespoke training and coaching support. •Act as a facilitator and deliver training as required with senior and mid-level management teams. Description

Contract Length: 11 months Job Purpose: The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that nutrition programmes in humanitarian contexts are delivering quality interventions by being supported with quality technical inputs and to drive the Public Health on the Front Line strategy. The Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor will directly line manage Humanitarian Surge Personnel (HSTs) and ensure deployments of key staff are supported in order to ensure the delivery of high quality, timely and accountable humanitarian nutrition programmes. Key accountabilities Programme Support (65%): 1.In the event of emergencies deploy to the field at short notice (as part of SCI surge capacity) to set up new humanitarian nutrition programmes, including leading technical assessments, developing nutrition programme plan, strategies and master budgets, and lead on coordination and representation 2.Ensuring responses are based on Save the Children’s theory of change, strategies and principles of child rights programming, national policies and international best practice; 3.Provide support to country level Nutrition Specialist for humanitarian response including advisory visits as needed – with a focus on Central African Republic (CAR), Niger, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nigeria and Mali; 4.Support to country programmes in the region, the regional office and Save the Children members to secure funding for humanitarian nutrition programmes, coordinating with donor technical experts and support to developing high quality proposals; 5.Support to country programmes to ensure high quality donor reports for humanitarian nutrition grants; 6.Ensure a broad overview of all nutrition programming in the WCA region including data monitoring through the CMAM report in collaboration with the MEAL Advisor; 7.In coordination with the PPQ (development) nutrition advisor carry out monitoring and evaluation support visits as required and working with country office teams to develop programme improvement plans and follow changes in outcomes; 8.Provide quality tools and guidelines to country programmes to ensure understanding of high quality programming, operations and advocacy in humanitarian nutrition programmes; 9.Ensure that humanitarian nutrition interventions are considered in first phase responses by the humanitarian director and other relevant staff, with a specific focus on raising the profile in Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E); 10.Working closely with the Humanitarian Directors, and Country Humanitarian Focal Points, other Regional Advisors and in-country technical leads to provide coordinated technical support to emergency preparedness planning, ensuring that countries are prepared for emergency nutrition scale-up in response to epidemics, conflict or natural disasters; 11.Work closely with Save the Children Emergency Health Unit (EHU) in the WCA Region Technical Capacity Building (20%): 1.Contribute to the design and rollout of SC humanitarian nutrition capacity building initiatives, such as the Save the Children and Liverpool School and Tropical Medicine (LSTM) Health and Nutrition in Emergencies diploma; for SC and partners’ staff, including training, and other modalities of learning, both at head office, regional office and in the field; 2.Line-manage deployable Nutrition Advisors (Humanitarian Surge Personnel/Team). Ensure effective mentoring and support for their professional development; 3.Support country programmes and head office in the recruitment of humanitarian nutrition staff and ongoing mentoring to support staff development in humanitarian nutrition settings; 4.Identify opportunities for partnership with external tertiary level nutrition institutes in the region, and UN agencies, to increase humanitarian nutrition capacity in the region; 5.In coordination with the relevant stakeholder’s internal and external to Save the Children, build communities of practice to ensure coordination of technical advice and support and to encourage shared learning between WCA countries. Advocacy & Representation (15%): 1.Represent SC in various technical and nutrition advocacy initiatives and partnerships, both from head office and via participation in external workshops, conferences and other events as guided by the Senior Humanitarian Nutrition Advisor and the global Emergency Nutrition Working Group and in collaboration with Regional Nutrition TA; 2.Lead on specific areas of advocacy and representation directly related to humanitarian nutrition programming using documented evidence generated from our programmes; 3.Liaise with the relevant external regional stakeholders including donors, learning institutes, UN and NGO representatives identifying opportunities, synergies and partnerships for SC’s emergency nutrition work; 4.Represent Save the Children at regional/sub-regional emergency nutrition forums, including with OCHA (including the FS/Nut working group), WHO, UNICEF, donors and other NGOs; 5.Support fundraising efforts for humanitarian nutrition capacity building programs in the region. General 1.Comply with the requirements of SCUK’s child protection policies and other staff policies; 2.To perform such other tasks and responsibilities as may be required in order to ensure the smooth running of the team, the senior management team, cross departmental teams, the department and SCUK; 3.Participate as a full member of the Humanitarian Public Health Technical Unit (HPHTU) in London, joining team meetings, coordinating work with other advisers and using shared knowledge; 4.Be available for deployments at short notice to large scale emergencies, globally; 5.Work to ensure that that 50% of own post costs are recovered through grant funding.

ROLE PURPOSE: The Regional Change Manager will form part of our new Change and Deployment (C&D) team which will ensure the timely implementation of new supporting systems and business processes in our 55 country offices. ROLE PURPOSE The main purpose of the role is to ensure that the Regional Portfolio is agreed, monitored and delivered within the agreed parameters of time, cost, scope and quality. Description

CONTRACT LENGTH: 12 months JOB PURPOSE: The Regional Pharmacy Advisor (West & Central Africa) will provide technical advice and support to all health programmes within the region and to other assigned country programmes. The position will work closely with health, logistics, operations and leadership positions in order to review and strengthen the pharmaceutical supply chain and improve the clinical care provided to beneficiaries. In the field, the post will capacity build and empower pharmacists, as well as frontline health workers, procurement and logistics staff and project managers. Through critical assessments, achievable recommendations, nurturing mentorship and frequent review, the regional pharmacist will demonstrate an improvement in quality and efficiency as well as a reduction in risk as a result of their interventions. CONTRACT LENTGH: 12 months ROLE PURPOSE: The Media Manager role is a key management position meant to ensure that quality and timely media are produced for media organisations and other partners, and Save the Children, and to ensure visibility of Save the Children’s brand. Central to achieving this would be to oversee a media strategy to highlight our emergency response in developing situations. A key part of the role, involving fifty per cent of the remit, will be to provide written/multi-media content to be shared with Save the Children’s country offices around the world. This will be achieved by regular coordination and liaison with the Global Media Unit based in London. You will be expected to demonstrate initiative and be a self-starter who will generate ideas and drive content forward, providing compelling case studies, images and video, as well as spotting strong news lines and writing engaging headlines. The Regional Media Manager will act as a key focal point for all media requests from members. When necessary, this post-holder may act as a Save spokesperson. In addition to the above, the post holder will also be expected to build up the country’s brand in-country, namely through national and regional media. The role will be based in Dakar, Senegal, but travel within the region will be a regular part of the responsibilities including providing additional support to regional and country offices. Fundamental to the job is the ability to gather, consolidate, analyse and share information in a way that is easily understood by news organisations, and other stakeholders. ROLE PURPOSE: Save the Children International is embarking on one of its largest global programmes to build a high performing organisation with efficient enabling systems and business processes. The Technical Trainer is a new role sitting within a new Change and Deployment Team that has been created to secure timely implementation of new supporting systems and business processes across 55 country offices. The Technical Trainer will be responsible for training selected staff within the Regional and Country offices on new systems and business processes. The Technical Trainer will on occasion be involved in the design and production of the training materials, otherwise he/she will interact closely with the Project Manager and IT Developers to ensure the user friendliness and ease of implementation of the training material provided by the project team. The Technical Trainer will deliver training via various methods and channels, including face to face training, Training of Trainers, online Q&A sessions etc. to ensure a successful roll out and consolidation. ROLE PURPOSE: This role will be in charge of rolling out SCIs new Inventory Management software in 2 to 3 specific countries in the West Africa Region. S/He will work with all relevant staff to implement the new software in every warehouse location, and to provide relevant support and training to ensure that users understand how to use the system to deliver more effectively in their roles. CONTRACT LENGTH: 4 months KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Preparation’s phase: Develop and review training material in both English and French, supported by the Supply Chain Systems Specialist. Prepare a training and implementation schedule in collaboration with target country offices Implementation: Organize a workshop in all countries with relevant stakeholders Advise on and develop implementation strategies with country offices in collaboration with the Country Logistics Manager and Operations Director, identify potential gaps or needs (i.e.: IT equipment, IT trainings …), and funding options.
