Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Reporting you will be responsible for: • Accounting, commerce or business administration degree from a leading university • At least 3 years of country or regional financial management experience in a complex commercial or development sector organization. • Significant budgeting experience, understanding of budgeting and forecasting. • Computer fluency; highly competent using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience working in complex financial systems like Sun systems, Agresso, PeopleSoft etc. • Advanced EXCEL skills • A flair for figures and analysis • Strong analytical, problem solving and advanced financial modelling skills and ability to present complex financial information in a succinct and compelling manner • Excellent communication skills (written and oral English), including the ability to communicate and present to key stakeholders at all levels within the organisation. Description

The Opportunity Save the Children is the world's leading independent organization for children. Your role will be to support the country finance teams in the region, helping them to consolidate information, to provide analysis and to facilitate effective business processes and workflows. In providing high quality support to Country Office finance teams, you will be part of the team effort for monthly, quarterly and annual financial processes. In this role, you are expected to leverage financial analysis techniques, tools, and software to provide insights. You will need to provide timely, relevant and accurate reporting. You will be a go to partner to provide support/guidance to Country Offices on system/technical queries for financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits. You will be highly motivated, articulate and comfortable with a diverse Finance role covering a variety of country offices, whilst working closely with the Regional Finance Management/leads. To thrive in this role, you must be highly driven and a self-starter to achieve excellence. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Save the Children has extensive experience in the field of emergencies. It is also a development organisation with programmes in the sectors of Health, Nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, Child Protection and Education. To develop its services for children, Save the Children works with government departments, NGOs and national and international institutions, local structures and communities in the countries in which it works. The Administrative Assistant intern duties and responsibilities include providing comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Admin team in line with agreed priorities, supporting managers and employees through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication, but also ensuring efficient operation of the office. The role holder will be expected to deliver on a general project implementation or day-to-day management basis. He/ She will also back-up the Admin Coordinator as and when required.
Les enseignant-e-s plébiscitent les activités d’ECMS organisées par les ONG, selon une étude réalisée en 2018 à la demande d'ACODEV

Depuis de nombreuses années, un nombre important d’ONG développent des activités d’Education à la citoyenneté mondiale et solidaire (ECMS) très diversifiées, notamment en milieu scolaire. Leur objectif est de faciliter une compréhension globale des enjeux mondiaux et de favoriser l’action citoyenne pour un monde juste, durable et solidaire. Quels sont les résultats de ces activités ? Comment les enseignant-e-s évaluent l’impact des interventions des ONG à l’école ?

L’étude « Perception des enseignant-e-s quant à l’impact des interventions d’éducation à la citoyenneté mondiale et solidaire (ECMS) dans l’enseignement obligatoire de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (FWB) », réalisée par le bureau d’étude DRIS à la demande d’ACODEV au nom de ses ONG membres actives en milieu scolaire, et en collaboration avec le programme fédéral Annoncer la Couleur (ALC), a voulu répondre à cette question.

Les résultats sont sans appel : les enseignant-e-s plébiscitent les activités d’ECMS, qui sont jugées positivement par la très grande majorité des personnes sondées.

Une contribution significative aux compétences des élèves

Les enseignant-e-s estiment que ces activités permettent de contribuer de manière positive et significative à l’acquisition de compétences telle que souhaitée par la FWB, tout en développant des savoirs complémentaires à ceux que peut leur fournir le contenu obligatoire de l’enseignement. Elles favorisent l’initiative, l’innovation et la diversification des méthodes pédagogiques et des contenus au sein de la classe et de l’école. Elles développent chez les élèves une plus grande ouverture d’esprit, stimulent la curiosité et la tolérance, et les encouragent à développer une vision plus solidaire du monde.

Pour les personnes interrogées, la qualité et la pertinence des activités d’ECMS, et donc l’importance de leur effet et impact sur les élèves, s’expliquent d’abord par la plus-value de l’apport externe des intervenant-e-s, et par le lien très fort de l’ECMS au concret, à la réalité du terrain.

Au niveau du renforcement du corps professoral, les interventions d’ECMS permettent notamment aux enseignant-e-s de faire évoluer le contenu de leur formation, de se renouveler, et de rester mobilisé-e-s et informé-e-s par rapport à ce qui se passe en dehors de l’école.

L'ECMS mérite d'être mieux (re)connu

Au vu de ces résultats très positifs, l’étude encourage les acteurs-trices de l’ECMS à continuer à améliorer leurs activités pour en démultiplier l’impact. Elle recommande aussi de garantir un financement stabilisé et suffisant de ses activités, et appelle les ONG, ACODEV et Annoncer la Couleur à redoubler d’efforts pour mieux faire connaître l’ECMS auprès du monde scolaire.
