Description
Are you under 31 and eager to put your talent to work on an interesting project?
Then, the Junior Program is made for you! Organized by the Belgian development agency Enabel, it offers you the opportunity to work for one to two years on a development project. You will join an Enabel project or one of the 28 partner Belgian NGOs and actively contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Mozambique’s ValoRe Programme is an ambitious national initiative aiming to transform how cities manage municipal solid waste, making it a cleaner and greener process. Recently, ValoRe secured the support of the Mitigation Action Facility (MAF), with leadership from the Ministry of Land and Environment (MTA) and key collaboration from the National Fund for Sustainable Development (FNDS), the National Association of Municipalities in Mozambique (ANAMM) and Enabel. As a critical boost to the national programme, MAF support to ValoRe also integrates innovative mechanisms like the Environmental Tax on Packaging, paving the way for a sustainable waste management system rooted in the principles of the circular economy.
Given the nature of the ValoRe programme and its integrated objective to establish sustainable waste infrastructure while enhancing the waste value chain, this vacancy seeks to strengthen the capacity of the PIU in managing Environmental and Social (ES) safeguards.
These Environmental and Social safeguards (policies and procedures) should manage and mitigate the environmental and social risks associated with the objectives of the ValoRe project/programme more specifically the Waste Infrastructure projects. Ensuring the proper operation of these infrastructures is intrinsically linked to addressing the needs of waste-picker communities and other stakeholders, both in the vicinity of existing dumpsites slated for closure and in other relevant locations. For more information, read the PDF
