Profil
This is a good match for you if
- You have a master’s in biology, Nature Conservation, Ecology, Bioengineering or other relevant field
- You have 3 to 5 years of experience of project management in a relevant field, preferably involving work with local communities; Field experience is a plus especially in the region.
- You have a good knowledge of donor requirements (i.e., Belgian Cooperation, European Union);
- You have a good knowledge of English;
- Demonstrated knowledge and keen interest in emerging technologies.
- You are flexible and able to travel in remote conditions (estimate: 2 times, 2 to 3weeks/year. Most of the work will be done from our Brussels office);
- You have Diplomacy and negotiation skills;
- You have a strong ability to work in a multi-cultural environment, with colleagues and partners;
- You are well-structured and have an attention to detail.
Description

WWF Belgium is looking for a Program Manager (60%) to lead the management, delivery and development of conservation programs in Asia-Pacific, with a particular focus on the region of the Greater Mekong. You will also support the Knowledge Management efforts across the International Programs team but also across departments (40%).
In this position, you ensure the high standard, effective delivery, accountability, compliance, value-added and relevance for the international programs in your portfolio. You do so through technical support, capacity building, close monitoring and detailed analysis tailored to the local context and needs. All you do is geared to making us the most impactful conservation organization evidencing solutions and positively influencing all generations to respect, conserve and restore nature, and halting biodiversity loss. You drive change by helping deliver impact on the ground through the power of partnerships and by engaging all those close to Nature.
Deep dive into the role
Program Management Asia-Pacific: 60%
- You support our partners throughout the project cycle for conservation programs within your portfolio: Conservation strategies & programs assessment & coordination, framework design, budgets & resource mobilization, risk assessment, compliance requirements, contractual arrangements.
- You ensure the high-standard & effective delivery and reporting of conservation programs in your portfolio. You monitor, evaluate & report on quality, compliance & project delivery through measurable indicators of outputs, outcomes, impact & performance in close collaboration with colleagues, especially the Monitoring & Evaluation & Learning Specialist and the Finance Controller.
- You contribute to a strong relationship with partners & stakeholders, but also with the WWF Network: You provide support to your partners by seeking solutions, partnerships, innovations & you consult your partners & network to leverage greater impact for your portfolio.
- You stay up to date with the latest developments and innovations relevant to your portfolio, within the WWF network and the sector. You keep abreast of and advise on national and regional policies, programs & innovations pertinent to biodiversity conservation in the region.
- You support fundraising to sustain our efforts in the field. In close collaboration with the Program Development Specialist, you help seek, identify and develop new prospects for your portfolio.
Knowledge Management: 40%
- You develop a knowledge management strategy and the guidelines associated with it in close collaboration with our Monitoring Evaluation Learning Specialist.
- In close collaboration with cross-cutting roles, you proactively support our department, scan for the “evidence gap” and propose opportunities to improve our knowledge management in line with our strategic plan, but also environmental and social safeguarding.
- You create an enabling and flexible environment within our/between department(s).
Who will you collaborate with
- You will be part of our Conservation Programs department, composed of 13 people (IP Director, Program Managers & Officers responsible for their area, Monitoring & Evaluation & Learning Specialist but also Program Development specialist.
- You will work closely with colleagues across the WWF network and partners (i.e., WWF Cambodia, WWF Thailand, WWF Myanmar, WWF Papua New Guinea, WWF Wildlife and Forest Practices).
