Description
WWF-Belgium’s Youth Department aims to raise awareness amongst the younger generations (from 6 to 25), parents and teachers. The overall objectives of the department consist in the development of educational material for schools, but also the stewardship of the WWF-Rangerclub (membership program for children) and the engagement of youth through WWF’s activities.
Today, to cover an 8-month maternity leave, WWF Belgium is looking for a Youth Engagement Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for the follow up of the European funded project “Eat4Change” (awareness raising campaign around sustainable food & diets), the development of a communication campaign intended for youth (Youth Leadership Award program) and you will coordinate the recruitment of new Rangers (target of 300 new rangers) by organizing stands. Together, you will create a network that will inspire, motivate to act for a better future!
Make a difference to today’s world. Join WWF.Your role:
You coordinate the recruitment of new WWF-Rangers during events with the help of your students and volunteers.
- Contacts: You look for adequate locations and create partnerships for the stand of the WWF-Rangerclub.
- Planning: You prepare a calendar with locations and events (adapted to the COVID19-guidelines) where WWF-Rangerclub will be present, taking into account the objectives and the available budget.
- Follow-up logistics: You ensure that your team of students has all the resources they need. That means that, with the help of experienced Rangerclub Officers, you will develop and produce necessary materials for the stand and animations.
- Briefing and coordinate: You are responsible for the briefing and the coordination of the students during these events.
- Follow-up results: You follow up and analyze the results and adapt the strategy to reach the objectives.
You are co-responsible for building a Youth Community within WWF Belgium. Therefore, you follow up the implementation of the European project “Eat4Change”, a project that has for objective to make young people aware of the impact of their food on biodiversity and the planet.
- You are heavily involved in the project by attending and contributing to the regular meetings with the international teams.
- Communication: You co-create a communication strategy and campaign to engage with youth. You understand youth, how they live, and you speak their language.
- Online engagement: You support the development a European online Youth Engagement Platform. You are creative and experienced in content development and digital marketing.
- Recruiting: You start up the communication on the different projects involving youth. You know which channels to use best for that.
- Promote: You promote the offer of workshops on sustainable diets towards upper secondary schools and schools for future teachers in Belgium.
You support the implementation of the Youth Leadership Awards. Through an online platform, younger ones can introduce suggestions for actions to address loss of biodiversity, climate issues and encourage sustainable diets in Belgium. Winning propositions will be realized with the support of WWF.
- Promoting: You will help promote the online platform by using our communication tools and canals.
- Evaluating: Via an online platform, you will analyze Youth-led-projects and evaluate their receivability based on clear selection criteria.
- Communication planning: You will help develop a communication plan around the launch of the Youth Leadership Award.
- Training and coaching: You will help organize ad-hoc trainings to help Youth and volunteers to perform their activity to the highest standards. You will provide coaching to Youth as needed.
We offer:
- An 8-months contract (80% is possible) from January to August 2021.
- An attractive benefits package for the sector including meal vouchers, group insurance, health insurance, 100% reimbursement of the costs of public transport (when homeworking is not mandatory).
- A flexible working environment adapted to COVID restrictions: either from home with all the ad hoc IT equipment, or in our pleasant office in the heart of Brussels, easily accessible by public transport.
- The chance to learn from experts and (further) develop a career inside the environment sector.
- The opportunity to contribute to WWF’s mission in the world and to share our values.
