Profile: - You are an internal medicine physician with a license to practice in Belgium, with a large expertise in infectious diseases, and with an additional demonstrable expertise in tropical medicine. - You have more than 5 years’ experience in clinical infectious diseases. Research experience and/or a PhD in the field of infectious diseases is an asset. - You speak and write Dutch, French and English fluently. - You are a team player. - You are flexible. - You are open minded towards any religion, sexual orientation or culture.

The Institute of Tropical Medicine and University of Antwerp is looking for a: Senior Medical Specialist Tropical Medicine Department of Clinical Sciences The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) is internationally recognized as a center of excellence for edu-cation, research and service delivery in the field of tropical medicine. The mission of the Department of Clinical Sciences of the Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) is to conduct clinical research of interna-tional standing, provide postgraduate education of high quality and engage in reference care and scien-tific service delivery. The department also runs the Medical Services of the ITM, a national reference center for tropical and infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and STI. The travel clinic provides over 35,000 consultations a year. Belgian physicians can call the clinic 24/7 for advice regarding a patient with a potential tropical disease illness. We are looking for a senior medical specialist in tropical diseases to strengthen the team of infectious disease specialists in the medical services. Assignment: - You will perform consultations as an internal medicine physician in the post-travel outpatient clinic of the ITM. - You will participate in the on call duty roster for Tropical and Infectious diseases at the University Hos-pital of Antwerp, including some weekends. - You are responsible for the organization of clinical meetings in the unit. - You are supervising the junior physicians and are coordinating their on the job training in the clinic in the field Tropical Medicine. - You will be based at the Travel clinic unit and you report to the Head, Dr Patrick Soentjens. - You are assisting with the updates of the State-of-the-art guidelines in Tropical Medicine. - You conduct research on tropical diseases under the supervision of Prof E. Bottieau. - You participate to several thematic teaching blocks in the department. - You co-represent ITM in network meetings at national and international level (TROPNET, GeoSentinel, …). - You act as ITM’s clinical reference person for tropical diseases with emphasis on arboviral infection.
