- Biomedical Engineer or relevant experience as Service Engineer for medical equipment
- Experience as Service Engineer in hospital environment an asset
- Field experience in developing countries, with MSF an asset
- Proactive and willing to propose innovative ideas and solutions rapidly

- Proficient in electromechanical aspects of medical equipment

- Familiar with quality control aspects of diagnostic equipment
- Good oral and written communication in English and French (any additional language is an asset)

Description
Biomedical Equipment Referent (m/f)
Context
The Log department is opening a position for a Biomedical Equipment Referent, who has interest in operational challenges and tactics.
According with Log vision @ MSF Today, the Operational Logistics is a very specific and well-known force of MSF. Beyond the fulfillment of basic logistic needs, logistics is a solution-driven and innovative force that helps to build and realize operational projects.
The Raison d’être of the position is to guarantee that the medical equipment used in the field are being installed, maintained and repaired in order to ensure continuity of our programs depending on the equipment in a large range of existing MSF standard equipment and the prospect of more and more advanced diagnostic equipment.
The Biomedical Equipment Referent is part of the Back Office of the Logistics department. S/he will be part of the BioMed platform together with the BioMed referent of the Medical department and the Biomed technician in MSFSupply to ensure the coherence between the 3 entities in charge each one of different interlinked aspects.
On request, as a member of the Log Back Office, the Biomedical Equipment Referent is in a functional relation with the Scenario Referents.
The Biomedical Equipment Referent ensures continuity of the use of medical equipment in the field through advice and implementation of correct installation, maintenance, repairs and quality control of medical equipment. S/he validates the technical aspects related with maintenance and repairs of new proposed equipment by Medical department and must be clearly aware of the high level of care aimed for by operations. The technical variety and complexity of the equipment and possible local outsourcing procedures the maintenance/repairs may involve will be a challenge.
The Referent has to analyze and propose specialized techniques and products for the implementation of maintenance and/or repairs.
Job Profile
Provide 1st line support and Help Desk specialized in Biomedical Equipment maintenance:
- To support Log Cells and Logcos on biomedical equipment maintenance when no local service capacity or formal MSF guidance is available
- To support Back Office on the content development and updates of 1st line support tools
Produce 2nd line support in Biomedical Equipment maintenance:
- To support on the definition on the planning and execute installation, maintenance, repairs and decommissioning of Biomedical Equipment or directly define by delegation from Ops in case of high complex technical projects.
- To define, together with field Biomed responsible, the capacity of MSF to outsource Biomedical Equipment maintenance locally
- To follow up (on demand) on local service contracts
- To give support to the technical aspects & execution of outsourced maintenance
- To coordinate the activities of the MIO Biomed and to guarantee the technical support for field Biomed referents and technicians
- Coaching and briefing of persons supervising Biomed technicians
- To liaise with the medical department (and other actors) in order to validate technical specifications of new proposed equipment.
Produce 3rd line support documents, guidance & “dossiers de fond” in Biomedical Equipment maintenance:
- To produce / Update guidance documents and technical protocols for the maintenance of Biomedical Equipment
- To Produce / Update necessary template type documents + checklists related to maintenance for further use and guidance of field activities
- To Develop and deliver training modules content related to the maintenance and repair of Biomed equipment adapted to the new field reality
- To Assist in identifying Biomed logisticians
- Liaise with other OC technicians / working groups in order to share / exchange / adopt / improve existing methods / guidelines and templates
- To work on R&D projects regarding Biomedical Equipment
- To capitalize on field experiences in order to maintain an ongoing continuous institutional learning and improvement process
- Participate in the mapping of local suppliers/service companies
