Profil

Key skills and competences:

  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and good working knowledge of Spanish.  French is an asset;
  • Proven ability to write briefing papers, monitoring reports as well as news articles in a clear and accurate form;
  • Proven ability explain complex issues in a simple way;
  • Experience in research;
  • Proven familiarity with EU external and development policies and with the following topics: economic development models, decent work and social protection, freedom of association education, migration, tax justice and fair trade, human development and sustainable development;
  • Knowledge of EU decision making process;
  • Fast learner and capacity to work autonomously.

Starting date and duration (indicative):

October 2019 –  February/March 2020

Description

SOLIDAR is looking for an International Cooperation Fellow to support the implementation of the “Organising International Solidarity” program funded by the European Union.

Within the fellowship programme, you will have an opportunity to get familiar and analyse the development and impact of EU development and external policies in developing countries. This role will also allow you to discover the working environment of the NGOs and member based network and give you understanding of advocacy strategy on EU level.

The main task of the fellow will be to support the development of the Decent Work Lab, a yearly thematic publication, as well as country-based Decent Work and Social Protection Monitoring reports.

Conditions:

The fellowship program is under form of “La convention d’immersion professionnelle” registered under Belgium law. The position foresees the allowance of approximately 780 Euro.

Key tasks:

During the programme, fellows will be expected to make substantive contributions to:

  • Support the development of the Social Protection Lab, a yearly thematic publication;
  • Develop 10 country-based decent work and social protection monitoring reports;
  • Organize events as well as visibility and advocacy actions (e.g. bilateral meetings with policy makers, lobby tour, etc.) to support the implementation of SOLIDAR “Organising International Solidarity” program;
  • Developing newsletters, briefings, etc. about decent work and social protection in Africa, Asia and Latin America;
  • Supporting SOLIDAR International team’s day-to-day tasks.
