Qualifications:
A degree in law, international relations, political science, social sciences or a related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, particularly in human rights, administration, advocacy, outreach, campaigning, research, and non-profit associations.Related Skills & Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of international human rights law, humanitarian law, criminal law and the Palestine context. Strong knowledge of EU institutions as well as relevant forums across Member States. Strong knowledge of the Palestine civil society networks, particularly in Europe and Palestine. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Arabic and French/Dutch are strongly desired. Other languages are a plus. Experience in strategic advocacy and outreach, including engaging with governmental and non-governmental actors. Highly motivated and committed to advancing human rights and international law. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and self-driven approach. Ability to recognize and maximise opportunities to move the organisation’s goals forward. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Resilience and adaptability to work in challenging and high-pressure situations, and capable of coordinating multiple tasks at once. Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills. About Al-Haq Human Rights Organisation Europe (Al-Haq Europe)Al-Haq Europe is an independent human rights organisation based in Brussels, Belgium that seeks to promote through legal research, advocacy, campaigning and litigation the human rights of the Palestinian people, with a focus on influencing duty bearers and relevant stakeholders, including policy-makers, civil society and the general public, across Europe and the European Union (EU), in coordination with relevant Palestinian and European civil society actors and coalitions. Al-Haq Europe strives to advocate for the effective implementation of international law and human rights, thereby contributing to the overall efforts in safeguarding international law and the fight against impunity globally. Al-Haq Europe seeks to hold to account all individual, institutional and corporate perpetrators of human rights violations and international crimes against the Palestinian people through relevant domestic, regional and international mechanisms, while seeking innovative avenues for accountability and justice. In fulfilling its mission and vision, Al-Haq Europe strives to adopt an inclusive approach in representing and advocating for the liberation of Palestine and the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including by extending the space to women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other marginalised groups.Al-Haq Europe is seeking highly-qualified and motivated applicants for the full-time position of Office Coordinator to strategically oversee and coordinate the organisation’s activities as well as manage and assist relevant staff in their work and implement projects. The Coordinator will report to the Board of Directors.Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, oversee and coordinate the organisation’s work. Ensure administrative management, contact with the social secretariat, and accounting among other relevant actors indispensable for the functioning of the organisation. Support the organisation's team of employees, ensuring that skills are aligned with mission accomplishment. Foster and nurture relationships with the partners, local, regional and international organisations and groups to strengthen collaborative efforts in promoting human rights and justice in Palestine. Organise and participate in coordination meetings with civil society groups to coordinate advocacy and outreach efforts and exchange information, necessary for Al-Haq Europe’s work and objectives. Coordinate, prepare and provide briefings for visiting delegations to Brussels. Ensure regular engagement and reporting with donors. Organise regular meetings of the Board of Directors. Manage the organisation's communication, i.e. produce, coordinate and maintain communications and production of online content for the organisation, including news alerts, features, op-eds, and publications in line with its vision and mission. Maintain and update the organisation’s website to ensure an engaging, effective, and user-friendly platform. Monitor legislative processes in the European Union and its member states that have an impact on the human rights of the Palestinian people and identify opportunities for engagement and advocacy. Represent the organisation at meetings, events and conferences, as needed.
