We are looking for a flexible and enthusiastic candidate, inspired by MSF social mission, and with strong interest in adult learning, eager to contribute actively to the MSF Academy’s success. 

Required qualifications and experiences 

  • Working towards a degree in a relevant field: Public Administration, International Relations, Human rights, Public Health, … 

  • Mandatory excellent command of French and English, both written and spoken 

  • Excellent IT skills, strong knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Word, Excel,) and Android (tablets) are mandatory 

Personal characteristics/Interpersonal skills 

  • Strong organizational, planning and administrative/logistical skills, and attention to detail 

  • Responsible, driven, and able to work independently, with guidance from staff members 

  • Empathic problem solver, and creative 

  • Strong excellent verbal and written communication, copy-editing, reporting and proofreading skills 

  • Team-player, hands-on and flexible, invested in reaching the end goals of the MSF Academy 

  • Initiative and confidence to ask questions in a fast-paced work environment. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 

  • Adherence to the MSF principles and to our managerial values: Respect, Transparency, Integrity, Accountability, Trust and Empowerment. 

What can be a plus 

  • Experience and knowledge of MSF or any international NGO a plus 

  • Experience in general administration is a plus 


  • 3 to 4 months internship contract - Full time – internship with school convention and necessity to be present in the Brussels Office 

In order to qualify for an internship position, the applicants should be prepared to provide documentary evidence that they are in one of the following situations: 

  1. Currently enrolled in a certifying training; 

  1. Between certifying trainings (eg. Bachelor and Master) with the condition that the utility of the internship is certified by the training institution organizing the second training. 

  1. Professional or social reinsertion according to federal or canton legal mechanisms. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility for the position. 

  • Reimbursement (100%) of public transport costs in case of travels to the office

The MSF Academy for Healthcare is an initiative that has been created with the aim to increase the quality of healthcare provided by our staff to the patients we assist in the missions. The Academy has a growing portfolio of projects addressing specific learning objectives of different categories of healthcare staff in MSF. All these projects are chosen in line with overall MSF operational and medical priorities. 

A large focus is on MSF’s national staff, especially in the countries with the largest gaps in human resources for health (HRH) capacity. The Academy develops adapted curricula and invests a great deal in clinical mentorship in the wards. The Academy aims to maintain the same overall educational approach in all its projects: competency-based learning; as much as possible on-the-job training with the presence of strong tutors or clinical mentors; and seeking to achieve appropriate accreditation for all trainings, often in collaboration with partner teaching institutes. We hope to install a much stronger learning culture within the MSF operations. Beyond MSF projects, the Academy connects also to health authorities to work on accreditation of its learning and punctual support to governmental programs. 

Presently the nursing training programme has projects in CAR, South Sudan, Mali Sierra Leone and Yemen and it is planned to be expanded to other countries in the coming years. More recently, the Out-patient care initiative has been implemented with pilot initiatives in the field. In 2021 the MSF Academy has started to implement a project to improve the management of Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in MSF-supported structures, and two longer term academic courses: a Postgraduate Diploma in Infectious disease (PG DIP ID), and a two-year Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Humanitarian Action (PGDip MHA) for medical managers in the organisation. The portfolio of projects of the MSF Academy is growing, and projects are increasing in scope and complexity. Two of our programmes, namely the Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Humanitarian Action (PGDip MHA) and Antimicrobial Resistance learning initiative (AMR) are growing in 2024 and will need to reinforce the capacity at the beginning of the year. 

The Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Humanitarian Action is a 24-month practice-based diploma course that is tailor-made to strengthen the key competencies of MSF's future or junior medical coordinators (MedCos). The MSF Academy established a partnership with Wits University, in South Africa to accredit the program as a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health from 2024 ( Epicentre is also a partner of this course, to establish the teaching on biostatistics and epidemiology. The programme is a hybrid learning course with distance learning, live sessions and two face-to-face sessions of 1-2 weeks. A team of MSF professional tutors provide close individual support for the learners, to assure optimal work-based learning. The course is in English. 

The Antimicrobial learning initiative (AMR), is part of the ambition to fight antimicrobial resistance: MSF has decided to put the reduction of AMR in its projects as an institutional priority for the organization since 2016. From this priority, several OCs and the MSF Academy have developed the AMR Learning Initiative. The priority cadre for this course targets the learning needs of the IPC Supervisors or Managers and AMS (antimicrobial stewardship) Focal Points working in MSF hospitals. For both profiles, an e- learning course has been developed in partnership with the British Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC). The content 

was organized with the input and validation from the MSF subject matter experts and through BSAC a formal accreditation with the Royal College of Pathologists has been attained for the final Diploma which is provided to all graduates of the courses.

Position within the organisation 

The Global team of the MSF Academy is currently composed of project managers and technical referents (nursing, pedagogical, clinical and mentoring), and administrative responsibles. In addition, we have the support of an e-learning developer, a graphic designer and ad hoc content developers. The MSF Academy also includes established field positions for the implementation of the projects in the missions (nursing, OPD and midwifery). The team is relatively small and aims towards an approach in which every member can contribute to the general strategy of the projects, while being available for specific tasks outside its expertise or profile to contribute to the projects. 

This position will report to the Administrative Responsible. The Programme Intern will be in charge of providing comprehensive support to the two dedicated coordinators in the execution of the mission AMR and PGDip MHA programmes. By supporting our events’ organisation, the Intern will have the opportunity to meet and support MSF colleagues joining us from various projects, contexts and countries. While supporting the AMR programme’s logistics, the Intern will be in direct communication with all departments in MSF (operations, medical, communication, etc.) as well as with our projects in the field. Finally, they will also have the opportunity to witness and support the development of innovative course content and tools in nursing sciences, including eLearning, and learn about the daily life and processes of an important medical humanitarian NGO. 

The successful candidate will gain experience in all aspects of the work-reality, will have a good exposure to the development of pedagogical content, tools and programmes, and will be part of a growing MSF initiative within a dynamic, multicultural team. 


Under the supervision of the Administrative Responsible and in close collaboration with the PGDip MHA coordinator and the AMR Clinical mentoring coordinator: 

Support to the PGDip MHA coordinator in event organization - Face-to-Face sessions (about 30 international participants): 

  • Strong support in event planning, before, during and after the events 

  • In charge of organizing the catering, liaison with vendors and management of orders 

  • In charge of bookings and follow-up (hotel and flights) 

  • In charge of IT support, participants checklists, agenda, welcome, … 

  • Manage all event set-up, tear down and follow-up processes and logistical assistance during the training (in person) 

  • Communication with the participants and external facilitators before, during and after the event 

  • Maintain event budgets 

  • Assess event’s overall success and submit finding 

  • Other administrative and logistical support as required 

  • Capitalization of processes and lessons learned 

Support to the PGDip MHA coordinator in the transfer of the postgraduate diploma curriculum from the MSF's learning platform (TEMBO) to the University's learning platform (ULWASI): 

  • Check for any discrepancies of the content on the new platform 

  • Check for any disfunction and inform the team about it 

  • Ensure links are matching with the right document and fix any disfunction 

  • Check functioning of all quizzes and discussion boards 

  • Propose or implement improvements for course pages lay-out 

  • Document and maintain a log of activities, issues encountered, and steps taken to resolve them. This will serve as a reference for future migrations. 

  • Regularly update the MSF Academy team on progress and any challenges faced during the migration process. 

Support to the AMR Project Manager and Clinical mentoring coordinator in logistics 

  • Logistical support on ICT set-up: formatting the tablets destined to the learners on the field, and eLearning materials, oversee the shipping with the Transmissions desk (in person in Brussels) 

  • Follow-up and tracking of Tablets send to the mission and projects from from brussels , 

  • Ensure supply procedures compliance 

  • Learners Bio Data entry into MSF aca data entailing check details if correct, confirm the contact details of each participants & their line managers, 

  • Sending initial survey to learners , follow up and capitalization, 

  • Together with the manager send Learners final diplomas 

  • Sending and receiving commitment documents to the learners before start of the cohort course 

  • Keeping track of the learning Commitment documents as received from the learners 

  • Capitalization of logistics processes and lessons learned
