Profil
We need people who are self-starters, innovators, both ‘doers’ and strategic thinkers – people who are able to hit the ground running to deliver an emergency response, as well as those who are able to develop longer term strategies or provide capacity building support to colleagues and partners in country and regional offices. We are looking for people who can take a holistic view to programming, who work in a collaborative way with other technical and support teams and most importantly who put the capacities, vulnerabilities and needs of communities - men, women, boys and girls - at the forefront of our actions.
Description
Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.Do you have experience of working in emergency responses, complex crises, or conflict contexts?
Do you have a background in emergency food security and livelihoods programming?
Do you have practical experience of using a market based approach, of gender sensitivity and community engagement?
If the answer is yes, then would like to hear from you.
The Role
What is an HSP?
Oxfam has a large team of HSPs covering many disciplines who bring their skills and experience to Oxfam’s country and partner teams to help them respond to conflicts and natural disasters. HSPs are based at home and would expect to spend up to nine months a year in field programmes (pro rata for part time posts) usually spending a minimum of three months on any one deployment. Many of our current emergency programmes are in Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
What will you be doing as an EFSVL HSP?
EFSVL HSPs provide dedicated technical support to regional, country and partner teams throughout all stages of an emergency
response. This could be developing and carrying the FSL part of an initial assessment following a rapid onset crisis like a cyclone, designing, setting up and implementing a food security activity such as fresh food vouchers in a refugee camp, engaging with communities to determine the most viable livelihood options in a protracted crisis, assessing and developing the technical capacity of Oxfam staff and partners, co-creating a national EFSVL strategy or carrying out bespoke pieces of research. What we are looking for
