Description

Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is an NGO applying unarmed civilian peacekeeping to reduce violence in conflict zones. We collaborate with local partners to provide proactive presence and protective accompaniment for individuals and communities at risk, and create safe spaces within which different actors can engage to manage and resolve conflict. We are looking for a creative, strategic and dynamic person to join our international headquarters in Brussels. This unpaid internship vacancy is mostly focused on the support to the NP programme development in South Caucasus. Key Functions The Intern will be assigned the following functions: Policy research  Identify sources of information related to policy issues relevant in the South Caucasus and other post-Soviet countries, identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learnt directly linked to NP programming goals  Monitor developments in the policy discourse, academia, press, to ensure that NP is up-to-date on key trends and cutting-edge practice in the region  Analyze EU and other OECD DAC donor countries’ policies to identify new and emerging opportunities for partnership  Participate in relevant Brussels-based events and write related short reports  Carry out desk research on issues of NP’s interest in the post-soviet countries, including Central Asia Programme assistance and Resource mobilization  Assist in the financial documentation management related to the NP South Caucasus activities  Manage data and assemble information packages, also in support of the preparation of bilateral meetings with stakeholders  Support in drafting, editing and proofreading letters, proposals and other documentation related to the NP programme activities, especially in Russian  Assist the work of fundraising and outreach NP team as needed Other administrative and logistical tasks may be assigned as needed, and it is understood that approximately 30% of the intern’s time could be dedicated in sharing office management support with other members of the team. This is an unpaid position. Expenses incurred can be reimbursed when agreed with the supervisor. This position does not constitute under the Belgian Law enough of a basis for the obtaining of legal residence status in Belgium. Applicants are therefore strongly advised to apply only if they have other titles to be legally resident in Belgium or in the European Union.
