Profil

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Medical or paramedical degree
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the field with MSF
  • Minimum 2 positions (or 1 year) of experience at coordination position (Field coordinator or PMR or Medical Coordinator)
  • Knowledge of the Middle East is an asset
  • English speaker, Arabic is a strong asset

Development and maintenance of alternatives / so called “out of the box” / flexible approaches to respond to the specificities of the WANA context, is required.

CONDITIONS

  • Open-ended contract, full-time, based in Brussels
  • Moral commitment to stay in the position for 2 years.

Description

BACKGROUND

The Medical officer ensures the medical quality of the projects as per the Decision making process document. It is a critical position to ensure a strong overview and moderation of all processes and support in the preparation and implementation of the projects.

In the portfolio of programs of the future cell, there should be the operations of MSF in Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Libya and Tunisia – those operations are currently managed by the Emergency Unit. Exploratory missions in several countries in the region are foreseen. The members of cell will be based in Brussels.

This position is not tied to any specific context. Countries are indicative, as a re-shuffling of the portfolio within the operations department occurs on a regular basis.

JOB PROFILE

  • Ensures and supports the medical quality of the projects with the deputy CO and the field: Design of project activities, support to implementation, moderation of technical referents, monitoring of results, medical supply and medical human resources and specific needs of projects.
  • Coordinates the design platforms (as per the Decision making process document).
  • Coordinates the support platform (as per the Decision making process document).
  • Interfaces with experts on quality/design/coordination of platforms as per Decision making process document
  • Provides HR support to the Medical coordinator and to the HRO (including HR pyramid and matching)
  • Provides support on medical supply
  • Provides support in case of emergencies, if relevant, on the field. The MO should be able to go the field for max 2x2 months in case of an emergency (for an explo, as FC or PMR).
  • Facilitates the internal communication on medical information
  • Validates Staff health’s policies of the missions
  • Compiles reports from the field
  • participates actively (preparing and/or presenting) in the training of MSF medical HR via the MCC + MSH
  • In coordination with the deputy CO, takes on specific vertical files, according to identified needs on medical-operational topics
