Profil

Qualification, skills and experience required:

  • University degree in law with excellent knowledge of international labour standards
  • Experience in leading and conducting research, interpreting data and producing reports to communicating research results
  • Excellent organisational skills and experience in coordinating complex legal projects
  • Experience in managing a database and website is an asset
  • Ability to work across teams and communicating with a wide range of people
  • Ability to complete assignments with attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent English language skills required, with a working knowledge of other languages (especially French and Spanish a distinct advantage)
  • Commitment to solidarity, democracy, equality and social justice, and the trade union movement
  • Willingness and availability to undertake several international travel, adapt to different environments and work in a multicultural, multilingual setting

Description

Job mission:

The Project Officer will work on the ITUC Survey and the ITUC Global Rights Index and contribute to the development and implementation of relevant legal strategies and plans for the ITUC frontlines and priority campaigns and to the regional and international advocacy work of the Legal Unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct country-based research into violations of labour rights globally
  • Document labour rights violations in clear and concise country-based and thematic reports
  • Conduct analysis and assessment of data in order to develop the ITUC Global Rights Index
  • Conduct research on issues related to international labour law and review legal documents, instruments and other relevant material
  • Conduct fact checking in relation to specialised legal documents and complaints in collaboration with ITUC departments and affiliates
  • Coordinate the organisation of events to publicise the ITUC Global Rights Index
  • Develop and maintain internal procedures in relation to the ITUC Survey and the Global Rights Index in collaboration with other ITUC departments
  • Manage donor reporting, including financial and narrative donor progress report
