Your profile

  • You have completed a university degree in Social Sciences and have acquired professional experience in administrative and church structures in the region.
  • You are keen to use your sound theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of conflict management as well as peace-building and reconciliation work as a consultant in a multidisciplinary team.
  • You are familiar with organisational development and project management and well versed in planning, monitoring and evaluating. Additionally you have knowledge about fundraising.
  • You enjoy imparting knowledge in the field of adult education and are able to prepare and communicate content in a way that is appropriate to the target group.
  • You are an open team player and work in a sensitive and respectful manner. You are energetic, flexible and adaptable. You enjoy communication and working in a challenging multicultural environment.
  • As a member of a church, you share the goals and concerns of church-related development cooperation and act appropriately in a church environment.
  • You are an EU or Swiss citizen. You speak very good French and fluent English. Knowledge of Kiswahili and/or Kirundi are also preferable.

What we offer

We offer you a meaningful role within a challenging, intercultural environment. You will live and work in Gitega for a period of three years. We will prepare you thoroughly and individually for your work. As per the German Development Aid Workers Act (Entwicklungshelfergesetz), you will receive an employment contract, including social security and a remuneration commensurate to the position.

Integrated Consultant and Trainer (m/f) in the CDJP Gitega and Ngozi, Burundi  # 2977

Curbing violence without military action, while strengthening civil forces in society and managing conflicts peacefully: this is the idea behind the Civil Peace Service (CPS). The Diocesan Justice and Peace Commissions (CDJP) in Gitega and Ngozi in Burundi, promote justice and reconciliation by educating and raising awareness among local leaders and multipliers in the fields of human rights work, non-violent communication, peaceful conflict resolution and tolerance. They are integrated within the national Justice and Peace Commission. The CDJP are currently sharpening their profile and reorienting themselves, in order to raise the quality and effectiveness of their work. 

Your tasks…

… require extensive knowledge of peace-building and reconciliation work, which you will use to support existing activities. Primarily, you will carry out the following tasks:

  • You will develop and establish training and continuing education measures as well as suitable training instruments for the CDJP staff in the fields of peace-building, reconciliation, and conflict analysis and conflict management. These measures will focus on non-violent communication, civil and human rights and democratisation.
  • You will implement trainings in Fundraising and Project Proposals for the same target group.
  • You will support the organisational development of both CDJPs and shape their strategic planning. Especially you will support the development of the annual planning and the implementation of a PME-System.
  • You support the Commissions in networking with local, national and international partners of civil society, church and state, and facilitate the dialog on all levels.
  • You will support the executive directors of both CDJPs in project applications for different donors.
