CBM has been involved from the outset with "VISION 2020: The Right to Sight", a global initiative with the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) to eliminate avoidable blindness by the year 2020, and other global initiatives such as the provision of affordable hearing aids, education for all and community mental health.
CBM is also recognised as a collaborating organisation by the World Health Organization (WHO) and has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

Hospital Director

Location: Magrabi ICO Cameroon Eye Institute, African Eye Foundation in Yaoundé, Cameroon

Contract Duration: 2 years (with possible extension of another 2 years)

Contract Start: As soon as possible

Objective:
The position holder represents the hospital at most official meetings and functions, develop and implement hospital management systems for a sustainable high volume, high quality ophthalmic referral and training institute, train and hand over to a competent successor management team to the end of contract. The incumbent reports to the Chair Man of the African Eye Foundation.


Main tasks

  • Lead and manage a referral, high volume, high quality sustainable ophthalmic training institute
  • Supervise hospital administration and support staff, and alongside the Director of Medical Services, all medical personnel
  • Financial Management
  • Marketing Activities
  • Facility management and procurement
  • Fundraising and engaging sponsors for poor patients
  • Train and hand over to a successor team
