Profil

Candidate profile

  • Masters level or equivalent. Supply chain or purchasing specialization would be welcome.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a purchasing function
  • Professional experience in Africa or Asia and/or an NGO experience would be a strong added value
  • Ability for coaching and training
  • Good knowledge of excel and ERP
  • Organization skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Proven diplomatic and listening skills
  • Autonomous
  • Fluency in French and English is required

Conditions

  • Long term contract - full time - Work place (when not on the field): Brussels
  • Ready to travel 50% of the time
  • Hospital insurance (DKV) - pension plan - canteen - 100% reimbursement for public transport costs

Context

 

MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES is an international non-governmental organization today working in 60 countries. Our volunteers provide assistance to populations in distress and victims of conflict, without any discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, philosophy or political affiliation. The Supply Unit of the OCB (Operational Center Brussels) covers the entire supply chain management at international and local levels of the operations of MSF Belgium.

As part of it, the purchasing direction is responsible for the global purchases, headquarters purchases and field local purchases, looking after a total of around 100 M of purchase budget. Our aim is to improve the efficiency of OCB purchases with optimization and expertise support, through a comprehensive purchasing approach on all these areas.

To help us achieve this objective, we are recruiting a purchasing expert to strengthen the field purchasing support team.

Job Profile

Under the supervision of the Purchasing Director, the Field Purchasing Expert will contribute to develop the level of purchasing competencies and the purchasing strategic approach on the field through:

  • Field assignments including (up to 50% of the time):
  1. Training in procurement domain
  2. Coaching to supply managers /officers, procurement managers and purchasers
  3. Technical support for specific instances (procurement strategy definition, market assessments, negotiations contract, etc…)
  • Remote field support from the headquarters including:
  1. Briefing of expatriates when relevant
  2. Training in procurement domain
  3. Remote technical support
  4. Development of the relevant guidelines, policies, procedures, tools, indicators and training course
