The Ideal Candidate Would Possess the Following Attributes:

Strong academic credentials.  Excellent written and communication skills.    Hard working, pro-active and professional work ethic. Some experience or ambitions to work in the sector. Keen to gain experience working in Nepal and immersed in local culture. Independent and able to make decisions with little guidance. Adaptable, culturally sensitive and respectful to others.

The Terms: 

The successful applicant must be prepared to live in very basic conditions and to travel independently around the country to rural and remote areas. Travel will primarily be independent of other Street Child staff.

Food, accommodation and flights are at the applicant’s own expense. A more detailed breakdown of costs and expenses will be provided for those applicants selected for interview. A fundraising commitment is also required.

Whilst this is initially a voluntary role, for applicants with relevant experience able to prove their ability to add strategic value, there is the distinct possibility of attaining a more permanent position: almost all the charity’s paid staff began as interns or on a pro bono basis.

Street Child is searching for dedicated individuals hoping to gain valuable experience in the charity sector by undertaking a volunteer placement in Nepal. The programme is designed for people willing to donate their time and skills to help empower Nepalese children in gaining access to education during the earthquake recovery phase.

It is a rare opportunity to gain valuable humanitarian relief experience and a well-rounded insight into the non-profit sector. We offer placements in Nepal for anything between 4- 12 weeks, directly supporting Street Child's work with some of the most vulnerable children in the world. This is a new start-up project and the selected individual would be working in a very small team.

Working alongside the Project Coordinator key responsibilities will include :- Support the Street Child humanitarian relief team in all facets of their work. - Support the project coordinator in capturing information and liaising between all partners. - Coordinate with the District Education Officer on project progress and implementation.- Collecting information to share with stakeholders such as UNICEF, the Ministry of Education and the Education Cluster.- Supporting local organisations in overseeing school constructions.- Conduct visits independently to projects in various parts of the district to acquire progress reports and support local partners.
